WEEKLY BIBLE STUDY OPPORTUNITIES
Each week we look at the upcoming readings for our Sunday worship service so that we can hear them with greater depth on Sunday Morning:
— Women of all ages are invited to the St. Philip Women’s Bible Study at 9am every Wednesday in the Fellowship Hall.
— Men of all ages are invited to the St. Philip Men’s Bible Study at 10am every Thursday in Pastor Kyle’s office during the school year.
Join us for Adult Forum at 10:20am on most Sunday mornings during the school year. During this time we will go through a number of different studies, ranging from in-depth biblical studies of particular biblical books, theological responses to current events, and other practical aspects of faith.
This year we are studying a variety of topics related to the theme "This Is My Body." We believe that God created our bodies, breathed life into them, and called them good. So why does it seem that we so quickly want to escape these bodily world from something more spiritual? God intentionally came to this world as a human being to walk with us, teach us, and make the ultimate sacrifice for us with God’s own body. What does the incarnation mean for our own bodies? How do we care for our bodies? We will be partnering with JourneyCare for four sessions on topics such as "Being Mortal" and "Music and the Brain." We will look at theological topics such as the Eucharist and the Resurrection of the Body. We will be hosting session on memory loss, being 'Fat & Faithful', Transgender and Christian, and more!
For the past two years, we have focused on learning about our neighbor's faith with five units of a combination of self-study and visits to a variety of congregations and faith communities in our area so we can build relationships and understand their beliefs better, including St. David's Episcopal Church, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Congregation Beth Shalom, Sts. Peter and Paul Greek Orthodox Church, and the Life Churrch. Last year we visited Glenview New Church, Hanuman Mandir, Willow Creek, Chaldean Catholic Church, and Ismaili Jamatkhana.
GLOW: God's Love on Wednesdays
We believe that we are better together -- all ages, genders, etc. And so when we do faith formation together, we also experience God in new ways. Check out this website to find our more about our intergenerational faith formation activities.
